Description
Ferries run throughout the day from the lakefront town of San Feliciano to two of the three lake’s islands: Isola Polvese, the largest of the islands and an Environmental Experience Center, and Isola Maggiore, the only inhabited island, where you can visit the Romanesque Church of San Salvatore, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, the Villa Isabella of the Marquis of Guglielmi, and the lovely secluded Chapel of San Francesco which marks the spot where Saint Francis arrived and stayed for his Lenten fast in 1211.
