Description
Come and discover Umbria; the green heart of Italy. Your first stop will be Assisi which is the birthplace of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. The morning will be spent exploring this captivating medieval town, its Cathedral with Frescoes by Giotto and the tomb of Saint Frances, main square and quaint quiet alleys and shops. From Assisi it’s a thirty minute drive to Perugia, where you’ll have free time for lunch and to enjoy this marvellous city which dates back thousands of years to the Etruscans. Take a walk through its charming centre and parks. If you’re interested in art, stop in the Umbrian National Gallery. Chocolate lovers will find they’re in Paradise, as Perugia is home to the Italian chocolatiers Perugina and Baci and a chocolate festival every October. The city also has two very well known music festivals: Umbria Jazz in July and Classical Musical Festival in August.
